Optimising my website for what exactly?

Just made sure to check one category, to avoid an uncategorized post. As I sat down today to maka a backlink plan for my projects, I came to houdyk.com my personal brand website and I asked myself: For what exactly?

How can I possibly target potential ideal website to get a backlink from, if it is not totally clrea what my site is about? Time to do some futher pruning and defining our purpose here. Before to do any outreach.

If I would be my client… I would have to refuse my service. This site needs serious work before to spent on ads or SEO efforts.

Ten categories… Not that bad! I though there we more. Now I remember I did some previous cutting, and I grouped together a bunch of posts under SEM and SEO. Now I think it does not make sense to want to be know for SEM or SEO at all. Too generic. Too many out there. Also, the total number of posts is 89. That is not too much for seventeen years. Houdyk is online since 2009. Just over five posts per year remain. What happened? Is must be possible to crank out at least one per week, right? Sure, there are some serious gaps with lost posts, and silent periods. But still. I can do better.

This requires soem calibration. But it is not that bad.

Now let’s move on to the tag secion:

Ouch, 165 tags. Not even sure how to past these here.

Not going to do that.

It is just remarkable to see that most tags hold 1 post, perhaps ten percent matches 3 or 4 posts. Each and every time a tag was used to group together one posts that did not make sense. I am pretty sure this is a common issue you will see on many other WordPress websites.
