Brand Building

Fast forward 25 years from now there is a brand of brands that is not Houdyk.

For some reason I want to build something bigger than me, bigger than my name or personal brand. The tagline “Searching for Sustainable Impact” is refelecting that desire.

Building a brand of brands

Houdyk is online since 2009. Over time the purpose of the site has made some dramatical turns. As we write of today (25 March 2026) I have recently pruned all old pages and currently am in the process of reviewing the posts to create a new category and tagging structure.

This page about brand building is to set out a new beginning. We are almost starting with a clean slate, only our historic posts remain as witnesses of our previous endeavours.

Over time I will branch out from here, and go in depth on the topics as they develop.

Why should my personal brand website be about building a brand of brands? There are a couple of reasons and desired outcomes I would like to get. Without holding any cards (President of Europe, World Domination, Master of the Universe) here follow some potential desired outcomes of this effort in the coming five years:

  • Lead flow for my agencies
  • Deal flow for my holding
  • Credibility as investor

Were I want this site to become about is about buying and selling businesses, and potentially new models for equity investors. Imagine I’ll write about buying domains, buying websites, and later on buying businesses and thinking bigger: Doing a roll up in advertising.

Current brand building topics to write about

When writing about brand building, it may sound logic that ‘The Brands’ should be featured here as well. I am still thinking how to do this, because for the time beying we are talking about local Dutch brands. The processes around it are univseral. So perhaps it will be more about that. This will not be a promo featurung the brands, because all have their respective channels for that.

Note that marketing channels SEM ad SEO (formerley key focus of this site) are now merely tools that can be mentioned when I talk about marketing channels, or running an marketing agency. The focus now is to show brand building as it happens. Before building a brand of brands, actually comes building a brand. That is were we are at now on several fronts.
