The development of an logo or icon is something that can take a lot of time. For earlier projects I spend hours and hours drawing and sketching logo designs. If you are not a designer that usually is a waste of time.
The design of a logo was not a priority, however it is nice to have something to identify the product and sooner or later it has to be done anyway. At fiver I found a designer I liked and with some suggestions this resulted in a first design. I wanted to have it stand out in the smallest sizes as well, and after two iterations the current displayed icon is the result.
I think it reflects well what the Backbone management system is about. A cloud based document management solution. I choose to display it in the special blue color that was inherited from my most successful information website.
